Eye Gaze/Mouse Dwell
With this access method, you can perform a mouse click by holding the pointer over a target (also known as "dwelling").
During use, an Eye Gaze button appears in the top-right hand corner. To temporarily pause Eye Gaze at any time, dwell over this button (or a teacher can click it with the mouse). You can then look at items or read text without accidentally selecting anything. To resume, dwell/click the Eye Gaze button again.
For Eye Gaze users, it's usually best to set your device to "movement only" mode and let DocsPlus handle the clicking. Alternatively, disable this access method and let your device handle both moving and clicking.
To enable Eye Gaze, click
in the Options ribbon tab and open the Access Method tab. Click the Special Access box and choose Eye Gaze/Mouse Dwell:
- Dwell time: [X] seconds - set the delay required before a click is initiated. The delay will be illustrated by a shrinking red circle.
- Enlarge cells when pointer is over them - visual indication when the pointer is in the right place.
Advanced
- Click on dwell - initiate a left-click after X seconds of dwelling.
- Right-click on dwell - initiate a right-click after X seconds of dwelling (usually speaks the target).
- Wobble Distance - after the dwell timer starts, the pointer can move X pixels without restarting it. When set to Auto, the pointer can move anywhere within the cell without restarting the timer.
- Repeat Distance - after a successful dwell click, the pointer must move X pixels before another dwell can start. When set to Auto, the pointer muse move outside the cell before another dwell can start.
