Cloze Documents

A Cloze Document is an exercise where words are missing from a body of text.

 

The objective is to fill each blank with a suitable word. These can be chosen from supplied suggestions or thought of independently.

 

Cloze Documents assess understanding of context and vocabulary, making them an effective tool for standardized test preparation. They can be used solo or collectively as a class.

Create

Click the  beside the  in the Document ribbon tab and choose  New Cloze Document.

 

This will close the current Document (you'll be invited to save beforehand).

Edit View

To enter Edit View at any time, click  in the Document ribbon tab.

Go

To start using your new Cloze Document, click  in the Document ribbon tab.

 

You can only type within the blanks. Click one to select it.

 

Fill in blanks with:

 

Click  to speak the current sentence (blanks are pronounced as beeps). To learn more, see Text-to-Speech.

 

To save your answers, click  in the Document ribbon tab.

Accessibility

Cloze Documents can be filled in using Switches or Eye Gaze technology.

 

The suggestions pane will display a maximum of 10 suggestions (even if there are more), to avoid having to scroll.
